Local carer service Ealing Carers HubHere for you, every step of the way

New to caring

You may be a carer without thinking of yourself as one.

If you regularly help a partner, relative, friend or neighbour who could not manage without you, you may be an unpaid carer. Support is available whether caring began suddenly or has grown gradually over time.

A good place to begin

  • Tell your GP practice that you are a carer and ask them to record it.
  • Write down the parts of caring that are becoming difficult, including sleep, money, work and your own health.
  • Make a simple emergency plan in case you are suddenly unable to provide care.
  • Ask us about a carer’s conversation or assessment and the local support available to you.

Caring can look different for everyone

You might help with medication, appointments, washing or dressing, communication, shopping, paperwork, emotional support, keeping someone safe, or simply being available whenever something changes.

There is no minimum number of hours. If your caring role affects your life, it is worth talking to us.

Support in the way that works for you

Read the information on this site, call the local support number, ask the on-page coach a question, or use the full Bridgit app to build and save a personal plan.
